Low Force on the River Tees…just a twenty minute walk from The Barn. This is often combined with a visit to nearby Bowlees Visitor Center and a short walk to Summerhill Force and Gibson’s cave. For those wanting a longer walk, the Pennine way follows the river westwards from Low Force to High Force, England’s biggest waterfall, 30 minutes upstream.
Low Force after the recent freeze
After the sub-zero temperatures at the start of February, Low Force started to freeze, as did the river. Contrast this with the more normal gushing waters, a playground for paddlers.
